Ingredients
4 Large Russet Potatoes
4 tablespoons Butter
1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Chives
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
1/2 cup Sour Cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C)
- Wash and scrub the Russet potatoes thoroughly. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel
- Prick each potato with a fork several times. This allows steam to escape during baking
- Rub each potato with butter and sprinkle with salt and black pepper
- Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet for easier cleanup
- Bake the potatoes for about 45-60 minutes, or until they are tender
- Once finished, remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes
- Carefully slice each potato lengthwise and fluff the insides with a fork
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped chives, butter, and sour cream to each potato. Mix gently to combine
- Serve warm, garnished with additional chives and cheese if desired
Notes
Select potatoes that are similar in size for even cooking.
Don't rush the baking process; check for doneness with a fork to ensure they cook evenly.
