Ingredients
2 lbs Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
8 oz Cooked Deli Ham
8 oz Swiss Cheese
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 cups Whole Milk
1 cup Chicken Broth
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish
- Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces, season with salt and pepper, and set aside
- In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter and whisk in flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes
- Gradually add the milk and chicken broth, whisking until thickened. Stir in mustard, nutmeg, salt, and pepper
- Combine chicken and ham in the sauce until coated
- Layer half of the mixture in the baking dish, add half the cheese, then the rest of the mixture, and top with remaining cheese
- Melt remaining butter and mix with Panko, then sprinkle over the casserole
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let rest before serving
Notes
For quicker prep, use cooked rotisserie chicken.
