  • Total Time: 20 mins
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 loaf Angel Food Cake
1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamo
1/8 teaspoon Pinch of Salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your angel food cake by slicing it into 1-inch thick slabs and then cutting those slabs into 1-inch cubes
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl or saucepa
  3. In a medium bowl or Ziploc bag, mix the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and optional pinch of salt
  4. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat, add half of the melted butter, and pan-fry the cake cubes in batches until golden and crispy
  5. Toss the warm churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture immediately after frying
  6. Remove to a serving plate and repeat with the remaining butter and cake cubes. Serve warm

Notes

Use slightly stale angel food cake for best results. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying for optimal crispness.
