Easy Homemade Beignets are fluffy pastries that are a delightful treat for any occasion. They are easy to make and perfect for bonding moments with family while indulging in a sweet experience reminiscent of New Orleans.

  • Total Time: 38 mins
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups All-purpose flour
2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Milk
1 large Egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Vegetable oil for frying
Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until the dough comes together
  3. Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 1-2 minutes until it's smooth and slightly sticky. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes
  4. In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). Make sure there's enough oil to submerge the dough pieces
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the rested dough to about 1/4-inch thick. Cut into 2-inch squares or rectangles
  6. Carefully drop a few pieces of dough into the hot oil, frying in batches. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brow
  7. Remove the fried beignets and let them drain on paper towels. While still warm, dust generously with powdered sugar
  8. Enjoy warm, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce or drink!

Notes

Ensure the oil temperature is right; too hot will burn the beignets, while too cool will make them greasy.

For an extra fluffy texture, don’t over-knead the dough. Just bring it together gently.

Store leftover beignets in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.

To reheat, place them in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 5-10 minutes until warmed through and crispy again.
