This Mango Smoothie is a quick, wholesome, and uplifting tropical drink. It's incredibly fast to prepare, boasting a vibrant sweet flavor from ripe mangoes, and fills your kitchen with a delightful aroma, described as a 'natural fragrance oil.' Rich in vitamins and natural energy, it's versatile for various dietary needs and a favorite for all ages, offering a moment of calm and nourishment amidst busy days.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 large Ripe Mango (about 1.5 cups chopped)
1/2 cup Milk
1/4 cup Plain Yogurt
1 tablespoon Honey or Maple Syrup (optional)
1/2 cup Ice Cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Mango: First, wash your ripe mango thoroughly. Carefully peel the skin using a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife. Slice the flesh away from the large pit, then chop the mango into rough chunks. If you are using frozen mango, simply measure out your desired amount
  2. Gather Your Ingredients: Place the chopped mango (fresh or frozen) into your blender. Add the milk of your choice and the plain yogurt. If you are using optional sweeteners like honey or maple syrup, add them now. If your fresh mango isn't very cold or you desire an extra thick, frosty smoothie, add the ice cubes at this point
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid on your blender. Start blending on a low speed, then gradually increase to high. Blend continuously until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. You want no chunks of fruit remaining. The consistency should be thick but pourable. The kitchen will begin to fill with that wonderful "natural fragrance oil" of fresh mango
  4. Check Consistency and Sweetness: Pause the blender and open the lid. Use a spoon to taste the smoothie. If you prefer it sweeter, add a little more honey or maple syrup and blend again briefly. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency
  5. Serve Immediately: Pour the freshly blended mango smoothie into glasses. For an extra touch, garnish with a small slice of mango, a sprig of mint, or a sprinkle of shredded coconut. Enjoy this delicious, naturally fragrant treat right away!

Notes

For the thickest, coldest, and creamiest smoothie, always opt for frozen mango chunks, which also reduces the need for ice that can dilute flavor.

A truly ripe mango offers the best sweetness and most intense "natural fragrance." Choose mangoes that give slightly when you gently squeeze them and smell fruity near the stem.

Start with the suggested amount of milk. If your smoothie seems too thick, add more liquid one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency, as different blenders and fruit ripeness affect this.

Always taste your smoothie before serving. Mangoes vary in sweetness, so adjust with more honey/maple syrup if needed, or a squeeze of lime juice if it’s overly sweet.

Smoothies are best enjoyed immediately for optimal freshness, flavor, and texture. If storing, pour into an airtight container, fill to the top to minimize air, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours; separation is normal, just shake or stir before serving.
