Ingredients
1 pound Store-bought pizza dough (or homemade)
6–8 sticks Low-moisture mozzarella cheese sticks
½ cup Pizza sauce (marinara or crushed tomatoes)
1½ cups Shredded mozzarella cheese (low-moisture, whole milk)
½ cup Pepperoni slices
1 tablespoon Olive oil
½ teaspoon Garlic powder (optional, for crust)
½ teaspoon Dried oregano (optional, for crust)
2 tablespoons Semolina flour or cornmeal (for dusting)
Instructions
- Lightly flour a clean surface or pizza peel with semolina flour or cornmeal and preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C)
- Stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12 to 14-inch circle
- Arrange the mozzarella cheese sticks around the perimeter of the dough circle and fold the outer edge of the dough up and over the cheese sticks, pressing firmly to seal
- Transfer the dough to the floured pizza peel or a lightly oiled baking sheet
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the center of the dough, and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce
- Distribute the pepperoni slices over the shredded cheese evenly
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, and dried oregano, then brush this mixture over the crust
- Bake the pizza for 12-18 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly
- Let the pizza rest for 3-5 minutes before slicing and serve immediately
Notes
For a crispy crust, ensure the oven is thoroughly preheated and avoid overloading with toppings.
